The Al-Tayeb family in Kas used their home's yard as neglected storage space, until the mother joined a home-gardens workshop run by Betna Akhdar earlier this year.

In just three months, the yard became a small garden with tomatoes, eggplant, jute mallow, and peppers — covering a large part of the family's daily vegetable needs.

As the mother put it: "We never imagined a space this small could save us this much on the monthly budget."
